If you’re keen to try some of the finest food and wine this side of the Seine, make sure you head to the French market at Stanley this weekend. Le French GourMay’s popular annual French Traditional Market is back and being held in the grounds of picturesque Murray House.
The Le French GourMay festival promotes French culinary and wine culture in Hong Kong and Macau, and each year a different French region is celebrated; the spotlight for 2017 is on Champagne.
The grounds are set up like a traditional outdoor market, so you can wander a lively marketplace, sample local produce and mingle with friends, while soaking up an atmosphere of art de vivre.
The event will showcase French market delicacies such as fresh asparagus, mushrooms, duck confit, goose and chestnut terrine, foie gras, saucissons, raclette cheese and fresh French seafood, as well as an impressive array of Champagnes.
Make it a family day out – in addition to French market food, you can drop by Egg Optical Boutique’s booth and visit a Champagne vineyard in virtual reality; plus, Alliance Française will share the fun of learning French with story-telling and games, and there will be face painting for the kids.
10 vendors whose wares you can sample at this year’s festival:
#1 Based in Kennedy Town, seafood importer M&C Asia offers fresh, seasonal and locally sourced French seafood products. It’ll be showcasing top French seafood at the market.
