21 March, 2023 by Expat Living 2 Min Read

Boating is a great, healthy pastime that brings people together. It’s also an activity that has boomed in the pandemic, with many new boat and yacht owners being welcomed to the fold and enjoying the fresh air and excitement of being on the water. The team at Simpson Marine, which launched in Hong Kong back in 1984 and has a wide range of boats for sale, says that newcomers shouldn’t feel daunted about buying a boat in Hong Kong or starting out in boating or yachting here. There are many boat clubs in HK that can help teach sailing and power-boat courses. What’s more, getting a Grade 2 licence is pretty easy. With a Grade 2 licence (officially: “Pleasure Vessel Operators Certificate Grade II”), you can operate a boat up to 15m long in Hong Kong waters.
