Tried and Tested: 2 Luxury Spa Treatments

10 January, 2023 by Expat Living 2 Min Read

https://expatliving.hk/facial-and-spa-treatments-hong-kong/

KATE WOODBURY samples a couple of spa treatments that would make great gifts (or the ideal treat to self!) – a body and facial treatment at the Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong and a hydrating facial at The Chaless.

The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong

If you’re after the ultimate indulgent body and facial treatment this winter, look no further than the Empowerment & Nurture Ritual at the Spa at Four Seasons. This is a gloriously long treatment (two and a half hours!) and includes chakra balancing and meditation along with a full Lomi Lomi body massage, plus a healing head and facial massage.

Once settled, with my Four Seasons signature oil selected, my therapist and I spent a few minutes with chakra balancing before starting the massage. And what a massage!

Spa at Four Seasons Hong Kong - facial and body treatment

Lomi Lomi hails from Hawaii and aims to reconnect body, mind, heart and soul. The technique differs from conventional massage and the therapist concentrates on the whole body using firm, rhythmic, fluid movements rather than working on one body part at a time. The experience is truly blissful. My skin felt wonderful afterwards, too – I enjoyed a dewy glow for several days afterwards. Lomi Lomi is quite a deep massage and at times it pushed me to the edge, especially on my calves – then, just like magic, the long, flowing strokes would sweep up my legs and back to my neck. It’s also a deeply relaxing massage and I found myself about to drop off once or twice; it would have been a terrible shame to miss a single minute!

I would highly recommend the overall treatment and experience at the Four Seasons. And it makes for a wonderful gift for any occasion.

The 150-minute Empowerment & Nurture Ritual costs $4,220 from Monday to Thursday, and $4,700 from Friday to Sunday.

The Chaless

Renowned wellness and beauty spa The Chaless has curated a 45-minute Hydrating Facial using Minimis by Cabanee Organics, a clean beauty brand from Canada. Minimis products contain an abundance of plant-based and organic ingredients such as Goji Berry Extract, Green Tea Extract, Witch Hazel Extract and Jojoba Oil, Sweet Grass Hydrosol and Blue Chamomile Extract – so I knew I was in for a treat when I visited the spa to sample the facial.

The treatment started with a brief skin-scanning consultation; my therapist concluded that my skin was slightly dry – which made the timing of this treatment perfect.

The Hydrating Facial is a four stage cleanse-hydrate-moisturisere-juvenate facial, which sees the Chaless therapist expertly massaging all kinds of goodness into your face. This is a superb non-invasive treatment if you’re short of time, and it left my skin deeply hydrated, refreshed and nourished. It’s priced at $1,357, including two full-sized Minimis products to take home.
