Have you taken a break from your career to relocate or raise kids? Why not make the most of your time in Hong Kong – and the access to domestic help – by doing something for yourself? There are some excellent interior design courses in Hong Kong – and a course at the Insight School of Interior Design could be just the thing.
Brenda Ho is a graduate of the eight-week Introduction to Interior Design Course, which gives an overview of the interior design process and principles. “The programme is well designed using real-life case studies,” she says. “The teachers are outstanding professionals and provide good technical and aesthetic advice.”
If you want to take it to the next level, you can study the Certificate in Interior Design (level 1) Residential. This can be done either part-time or full-time with no previous experience necessary. Students get to work on two real-life residential projects and learn all the architectural and decorative aspects of interior design. Lesley Olejnik-McBride, who has a marketing background, decided to explore a career change after having her two children. She completed the introduction programme, before embarking on the certificate. “I enjoyed this course and my time at Insight School immensely,” she says. “It’s a truly fantastic course and I’ve learned an incredible amount.”
Insight School also offers over 20 different short courses, on topics such as Design & Styling, Small Space, Feng Shui and Kitchen & Bathroom, all year round.
