Keen to pursue a creative career? One local university is providing the chance to do that, right here in Hong Kong. Budding designers from the city’s campus of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) recently showcased their work at the fourth annual SCAD Hong Kong Fashion Showcase in the presence of China’s most celebrated couturiere, Guo Pei.

SCAD - HKG 2018 Winter Fashion On Show 2

Guo, the first Chinese national designer to join the prestigious Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, was among the VIP industry guests at the show. Held at SCAD’s historic campus, the show featured models taking to the runway in the chic and cutting-edge designs of some of the university’s recent fashion graduates.

The creative flair and the technically advanced methods SCAD students are renowned for was on display in the clothing, which featured bold colours, innovative use of fabric, and techniques such as crystal embellishment, laser cutting, quilting and bonding.

Students also gained first-hand experience running the show’s backstage operations for the professional production, with Guo sharing her invaluable experience with the participants
