Things to do in HK this Christmas

It’s just not Christmas without sparkling lights, seasonal songs, and some ‘friendly’ jostling through excited crowds to finish your last-minute shopping. Here’s where to get into the festive spirit this December in Hong Kong. And for those Grinches among you, we’ve also included some non-Christmassy things!

Christmas Displays

Not all shopping centres will have Christmas displays this year. Never fear, some have some lovely Christmassy displays to give you all the festive feel. Try Pacific Place or the Landmark, which both have lovely Christmas displays for the kids to look at.  Pacific Place has a whole raft of activities that include storytelling and Christmas workshops. There is also Santa’s Grotto, which always sells out fast. (The JW Marriott offer a staycation deal that includes tickets to Santa if you missed out).

The Peak

Operation Santa Paws

Operation Santa Paws

The successful rescue campaign is back to make sure our furry friends are cared for during the festive season. Help support local Hong Kong’s animal rescue shelters by donating new and gently-used pet supplies at one of the drop-off points around the city.

“Mr Doodle Invades Sotheby’s”

From 6 to 16 December, Sotheby’s Hong Kong Gallery will be presenting the works of British artist Sam Cox, more commonly known as Mr Doodle. As well as showcasing a selection of his doodles, based on a humourous reinterpretation of some of the most famous paintings in history, Mr Doodle will also host live doodling sessions.

The Big Sleepout

The Big Sleepout Hong Kong

Run in multiple countries around the world on the same day in support of the homeless and refugees, this will be the first BIG Sleepout event in Hong Kong! Hosted by ImpactHK, the event will be held at the Observation Wheel in Central Harbourfront and will feature musical performances, an open mic for sharing and even video messages and stories by Will Smith and Helen Mirren! Proceeds will go to support the homelesss in Hong Kong and international refugees.

A Night of Carols
