The Met: Live in HD 2022-23 Season in Hong Kong

14 January @ 3:00 pm - 10 December @ 8:00 pm

what to do in HK this weekend - MET Live in HD

The Met: Live in HD presents high-definition screenings of opera performances in the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. The productions are filmed by 14 different cameras in high-definition format and transmitted to cinemas across the world. Hong Kong opera lovers can enjoy world-class performances comfortably in local cinemas with a ticket price of HK$240, compared to ticket prices of up to US$495 in New York.

The 2022 -23 Season opened at the Met on 27 September 2022 with the premiere of Cherubini’s Medea featuring Sondra Radvanovsky in the title role. In addition to Medea, the lineup of work premieres for this season include Kevin Puts’s The Hours, featuring Renée Fleming, Joyce DiDonato, and Kelli O’Hara, and Terence Blanchard’s first opera Champion, based on the life story of American boxer Emilie Griffith. The Met will also be bringing in four new productions of classic repertory works, including Giordano’s Fedora, performing at the Met for the first time in 25 years; Wagner’s Lohengrin in François Girard atmospheric production starring Piotr Beczała in the title role; Tony Award-winning Director Ivo van Hove making a major Met debut with his unique take on Mozart’s Don Giovanni; and last but not least, acclaimed English Director Simon McBurney’s Die Zauberflöte featuring projections and acrobatics.
