Lunch delivery in Hong Kong: Where to find healthy takeaway meals, delivered fast!

A new lunch service offering fast and fresh food delivered direct to your desk has revolutionised the midday meal for busy office workers in Hong Kong.

Keep calm and NOSH on!

Keep calm and NOSH on!

Online food delivery service NOSH has quickly become the go-to lunch option for savvy executives since it launched in September, providing high-quality meals within 30 minutes.

Founder Max Von Poelnitz said NOSH was founded in the summer of 2015 by the creators of Secret Ingredient, with the aim to change the way Hong Kong people eat and order takeaway.

“I was tired of seeing long lunch time waits and minimal restaurants offering healthy, fresh alternatives to corporate customers,” he said.

“This city needs a delicious, convenient food option that is delivered in 30 minutes and at the right temperature.”

Mr Von Poelnitz said demand for the service in Hong Kong, where hectic and high stress corporate life can play havoc with health, had exploded since the launch.

The menu includes dishes such as Roasted Salmon with Ponzu and Soba Noodles and Bok Choy, Grass Fed Burrito Bowl with Guacamole and Brown Rice and Free Range Chicken with Black Beans and Warm Quinoa Salad to name a few.

Executive Chef Kevin James said ingredients were sustainably sourced from all over the world, such as grass-fed Australian Beef, US Free Range Chicken and Atlantic Fish.

“I wanted to create meals which are varied and delicious,” he said.

“Although we don’t work in offices we know that our customers are looking for healthy, quick alternatives for lunch.”

HOW IT WORKS

Customers simply go to the NOSH website and choose a delivery option which suits depending on operational hours and location.

The menu offers a wide range of recipes using healthy, seasonal ingredients, which change every few weeks, while maintaining a staple menu of hot dishes and salads.

NOSH uses four primary partners to deliver their meals – MaiDan, Foodpanda, Foodora and Delivery.com

“We focus on partners that can serve our customers fast and who are constantly investing in new means of customer service,” Mr James said.

“With MaiDan our menu changes daily which our customers love. We offer three options that constantly rotate and I design new dishes seasonally.”

Once an order has been placed, it is delivered to the customer within 30 minutes at the right temperature, but can also be heated in the oven or microwave based on personal preference.

Mr von Poelnitz said the NOSH was committed to quality, but not at the expense of the environment.

“Additionally, we focus on sugarcane and biodegradable packaging because delivered food should arrive in packaging that is environmentally friendly and great to eat from,” Mr von Poelnitz said.

Meals range from HK$80 to HK$100 with discounted offers at their pick-up locations at 23 Mosque Street Mid-Levels and 14 Tsuen Wan Street, Happy Valley.

NOSH also offers corporate catering for conferences, meetings and events.
