Give your hair a lift this new year

16 January, 2019 by Melissa Stevens 1 Min Read

https://expatliving.hk/where-to-go-for-hair-colour-in-hong-kong-eco-friendly-hairdresser-emmanuel-f/

The start of a new year is the perfect time to think about making changes, including a shiny new hair colour!  Highlights or balayage are a great way to liven up your hair, especially in the cooler months which can leave your locks a little on the dull side. So, in need of a lift, Melissa Stevens headed along to Emmanuel F salon in Sheung Wan to test out one of their hair colour packages.

Let there be light!

Within minutes of meeting the salon’s creative stylist Clement, I knew I was in safe hands. He quickly identified the flaws in my existing haircut and colour, then outlined a plan to minimise the problems while giving my hair a fresh look and feel. He explained he would give me a mix of highlights and lowlights, which would brighten my hair but not create obvious regrowth.

Eco-friendly

Emmanuel F is proudly an eco-chic salon. For my highlights, Clement used Organic Colour Systems products, which are not only 95 percent naturally derived and 60 percent certified organic, but also cruelty-free.

This eco-ethos extends to the process. As Clement explained, the salon uses re-usable cotton strips, which they launder themselves, when applying highlights. These strips mean no environmentally unfriendly aluminium foil is used.

In with the new

Once the highlights had been applied, I was ushered to have my hair washed and enjoy one of Emmanuel F’s signature relaxing head massages, before my hair was trimmed with some layers to keep it from looking too heavy. The result? Perfectly polished and new year-ready hair!

Emmanuel F is at UG/F, The Pemberton, 22-26 Bonham Strand, Sheung Wan.
