Kids will have a blast taking part in CDNIS’s comprehensive programme of camps and summer courses in Hong Kong this year, with over 30 morning and afternoon activities available to suit every interest – there’s everything from tennis, Jiu Jitsu and canoeing to digital storytelling, cooking and chess! Running from 17 June to 1 August, the programme covers STEAM, Arts, Academics, Multi Activity, Mandarin, Sports and more, and is a great way for students to expand their knowledge and explore their interests over the long break. Here’s a look at three of their summer courses in Hong Kong.
Multimedia Innovation
Crafting Cultures through Digital Storytelling, VR and AR
Provider: Carnegie Mellon University
This exciting offering fuses technology, cultural narrative and cutting-edge educational approaches, incorporating the latest advancements in Web 3.0 and STEAM. It’s led by professors and instructors from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Hong Kong, with topics covering:
• The Evolution of Storytelling in the Digital Age
• Master Audio Narratives in Podcasting
• Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR)
• Multi-Cultural Storytelling from Various Perspectives
Participants won’t just learn theory; they’ll get hands-on experience, actively creating, experimenting and connecting with university experts and industry professionals in the field of digital storytelling.
Details: The seven-day camp runs from 29 July to 4 August, with daily sessions from 9am to 3.30pm Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 12pm on Sunday. Students should bring a mobile phone and laptop with charger; VR headsets and iPads are provided.
Where to learn Spanish in Hong Kong

¡Hola amigos! Have you been looking for where to learn Spanish in Hong Kong? This Spanish Summer Camp by the Spanish Academy offers an immersive language-learning experience for students from Prep upwards. Participants will learn Spanish in Hong Kong, embrace the culture in a fun environment and take part in plenty of interactive activities, games, arts and crafts, music and cultural explorations. Under the guidance of experienced Spanish instructors – and with personalised attention for each child – they’ll learn Spanish by developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills and assimilating a new popular language spoken natively by nearly 500 million people worldwide.
Details: Different weeklong sessions are available for Prep to Grade 2, Grade 3 to 5, and Grade 6 and above; classes run from 1.30pm to 3.30pm daily.
Out The Box summer courses in Hong Kong
Out The Box is running three camps as part of CDNIS’ summer courses and programmes.
Provider: Out The Box Limited
Out The Box – Learn About the World Through the Medium of Drama
This specialised camp combines a curiosity for the sciences and humanities with a love for theatre, exposing students to the world of STEM through performing arts. Academic topics and concepts are adapted into unique, student-led performances.
The Public Speaking Box
This camp aims to sculpt novice talkers into master orators, by elevating their eloquence and self assurance. During these summer courses in Hong Kong, children will learn about concentration, speech structure, impromptu speeches, voice development and the importance of body language.
The Drama Box
These acting classes help children refine their voice, enhance movement and bring emotions to life. Whether they’re aiming for a career on the stage or in the boardroom, the skills learnt here will boost confidence, sharpen presentation and ignite creative thinking.
