Great private kitchens in Hong Kong

By: Michelle Wonderland

Fact: your friends often refer to you as a know-it-all when it comes to trendy restaurants. You’ve been called the Master of Munchies so many times for your mental little black book of top dining spots that you’ve lost count. Although you’re a foodie fanatic, it’s tough to stay on top of each private kitchen that is a cut above the rest. Friends don’t let their friends get hangry: keep those pats on your shoulder coming with our roundup of great private kitchens in Hong Kong.

Scroll through our gallery above for a glimpse into the below private kitchens

one-thirtyone

Love is in the air at one-thirty one. Although a requisite jaunt away to Tolo Harbour is on the menu, think of dining in this three-storey house as your romantic getaway.  Using organic produce from their neighboring farm and herbs grown on the spot, one-thirtyone aims to please guests of its four-tables maximum dining space.

Masala Bay

Both a catering company and private kitchen, the homemade Indian and Sri Lankan (with a little bit of Afghani) cuisine will set your heart afire in a good way.  Masala Bay has grown from word of mouth, and once you step inside this private kitchen, you’ll definitely get that home-cooked meal feel with just a short trip to Clear Water Bay.

Dining at Home

Looking for an authentic, home-style North Indian meal? Let Puja treat you like family. Dining at Home can accommodate a maximum of six diners (book NOW – the rumour is they are expanding). More than just curry, Dining at Home can whip your troop an amazing evening. You can even book for private cooking classes.

More than just tapas, the Spanish cuisine at Comilonas will blow you away. We love the monthly menus to satiate our latin appetites, but especially adore the waived corkage fee if you BYO Spanish wine.

Pomegranate Kitchen

Take a trip to the Mediterranean with a trip to Pomegranate Kitchen, where six courses of gastro goodness will fill your bellies to full delight. Not interested in a full dinner? Sabor Spanish Private Kitchen Cuisine

This Spanish kitchen features modern cuisine in a fiesta-type atmosphere, and the well-known rumour is that Sabor has the best sangria this side of Barcelona

Fa Zu Jie

What can we say, this may just be one of the best private kitchens in Hong Kong.  When other private kitchens are extorting charging $1000+ per head, Fa Zu Jie’s consistently fabulous menu is well under $600.  A Shanghainese/French fusion favorite, be sure to book at least a month in advance.
Fa Zu Jie, Central | 3487 1715. BYO, $578 per person (six courses), No corkage, Shanghainese with French and Italian cuisine influences
