KTBYTE
Launched in the US in 2013, and now with a presence in Hong Kong, KTBYTE aims to make a high-quality computer science (CS) education accessible, exciting and engaging. KTBYTE students are aged from 8 to 18 and hail from the Hong Kong, mainland China, the US, Canada, the UK and Singapore. The team places a strong focus on preparation for computer Olympiads, as participation in these competitions should be a top priority for students who want to improve their chances of applying to the best universities – namely, the MITs of the world. All classes are conducted by a teacher, with a class size typically not exceeding six to seven students. Classes are mostly online, but can be in-person if it’s more convenient for a student and their family. There’s a fully integrated digital platform in place, including audio, video, a coding environment and student grading. The academy syllabus is focused on teaching with excellence and rigour up to university undergraduate standard, with activities tailored to particular ages and levels of knowledge, from Minecraft, Roblox and Scratch for younger ones to advanced applied topics like AI and web development.
