Halloween fun in Hong Kong

Have you boo-ked your Halloween activities yet? Whether you’re big or small there are plenty of tricks and treats to be found in HK this spooky season, with plenty of activities for mini ghosts and witches and options for grown-up ghouls who like to scare up a good time. Here’s a selection of what’s on offer:

WHAT: Disneyland Halloween Time

Disneyland transforms from the ‘happiest place on earth’ to the spookiest with Main Street decked out with Halloween decorations and the regular daily parades replaced with special parades featuring Disney villains, such as Maleficent.

WHAT: The White Loft Halloween Spooktacular

The White Loft is putting on a Halloween party to be remembered. Sweet Soirees is providing the decor and food, RFDiscos will put on the music and Rumple and Friends will keep the crowd entertained with a show and games for kids and adults. There will be a Zombie creation station, pinata, creepy snacks, crafts – and even some wine for the adults.

WHAT: Bookazine Boofest

Are you ready to read, listen, get creative and have spooky fun? Then visit the Halloween-themed Bookfest or “Boofest” at Bookazine in Repulse Bay. Featuring storytelling and workshops, a Halloween costume contest, a Room on the Broom treasure hunt, face painting, and a scary performance by Faust, it’s suitable for ages three to 12.

WHAT: FRITES Halloween Kids Party

FRITES will host a spooky magic show for Halloween. The kid’s areas in each restaurant will be transformed into fun wonderlands with the show starting at 2pm.Dress up in your favourite Halloween costume for the chance to win the grand prize. There will also be free ice cream and Halloween candies for the kids.

WHAT: The Arcade October Fest

The Arcade will team up with Moinàrchy, Children’s Science Academy to host the ‘Halloween Fun Digital Workshop’. Your little mad scientist can build their own Halloween robot and participate in a ‘Mensa IQ Math Camp’.

WHAT: Ocean Park Halloween Fest

Ocean Park’s Halloween Fest 2016 sees a variety of special events and entertainment aimed at pleasing all ages. Highlights include an outdoor trick-or-treat trail, junior Ghostbusters experience, as well as designated ‘scare zones’ and a Sugary Spook Village.

WHAT: The Butchers Club Halloween Southside Market Long Lunch

The Butcher’s Club Southside Market Long Lunch is back. Hong Kong’s dry-aged meat experts’ popular rooftop market makes its return after a long summer break, just in time for Halloween. The event will see ticket holders enjoy a buffet lunch, pumpkin carving competition, trick-or-treating, live music and selected vendors. There will also be face painters, lawn games and kids’ cinema.

WHAT: Howl ‘O’ Ween Fundraiser For Kirsten’s Zoo

Put your pooch on a leash for this Halloween-themed charity walk  for Kirsten’s Zoo. Choose either the 4km gentle family Waggy Walk or the Tails on Trails, a 8km trail run. Get your best fancy dress kit on, grab your dog and help raise desperately needed funds to continue offering abandoned and neglected animals a chance.

WHAT: Sedan Chair Race

This exciting race is the main fundraising event of Sedan Chair Charities Fund, and consists of teams carrying sedan chairs running around the Peak on a 2.1km race. It provides team-building opportunities for corporations, schools and organisations, as well as being an amazing time for spectators to enjoy an entertaining morning with wonderful live music, good food and games, all on this beautiful heritage site.

WHAT: Ghostbusters: Hushup Cinema x Shore Rooftop Cinema HK

Enjoy the 1980s cult classic, Ghostbusters, starring Dan Akroyd and Sigourney Weaver, as New York battles a ghost invasion. A partnership with cross-cultural platform, Third Culture, will see a short film screening before the main feature of The Fisherman.
