Our guide to furniture shopping at Horizon Plaza

2 February, 2022 by Expat Living 5 Min Read

https://expatliving.hk/horizon-plaza-furniture-shopping-hong-kong-homewares/

Horizon Plaza is a Hong Kong shopping institution on the island of Ap Lei Chau, next to Aberdeen. Whatever you’re looking for in terms of furniture, fashion and other lifestyle products, you’ll find it within these 28 floors. Our tip? Get a directory at reception, head to the top floor, and work your way down using the stairs. Here’s a selection of some of our favourite homeware retailers.

Organic Modernism

Fans of mid-century-style furniture and natural products will love the pieces at Organic Modernism. With origins in New York’s Brooklyn borough, the company’s founder wanted to take a more organic approach to affordable furniture design. For one thing, the pieces are created in natural materials, including American walnut, white oak, marble and bronze. They’re inspired by the sleek lines of home furnishings from the 1950s and 1960s. The company has a showroom in Hong Kong where you can browse the large range of cabinets, chairs, tables, sofas, lighting and homeware inspired by the iconic styles of the era. Organic Modernism shares its vision with that of Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer; as he once said, “Nothing is a design until ordinary people use it”.
