Gorgeous Mother’s Day gift ideas

In Hong Kong, Mother’s Day is celebrated in May, this year on 10 May. British expat mums are lucky – they get to double-down on the spoils. (They deserve it!) We’re all probably guilty of taking Mum for granted from time to time, so Mother’s Day is a great opportunity to remind her that we really do know how fabulous she is. Here are some great gift ideas that might help our mums know how much we love them.

Impress her with a beautiful spread

Does your mum love to entertain? Why not turn things around on Mother’s Day and treat your mum to a visual delight by setting a bright and thoughtful table this year. We know she would really appreciate the effort. Our team is loving the new Flora collection designed by Nathalie Lété. It’s bright and colourful, and a little bit quirky – just like so many of the best mums out there. This aesthetic is sure to brighten your dining table for mum this Mother’s Day.

Treat her to a staycation

We aren’t travelling this Mother’s Day but it doesn’t mean we can’t access those holiday vibes. Treat your mum to a staycation in Hong Kong – it’s likely the type of break she needs from all that home schooling. The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong has launched Oasis Indulgence for Mum, a staycation package that features a host of indulgent benefits like a 24-hour stay, limousine transfer, welcome champagne, spending credit and a special gift from Aromatherapy Associates.

Take her for brunch

This city is teeming with amazing brunches and Mother’s Day is no different. After you’ve made her breakfast in bed, treat her to a brunch she’ll remember. Here are a few to consider:

Sunday roast – You simply can’t go past the Michelin-starred Mandarin Grill and Bar at the Mandarin Oriental for a hearty Sunday roast, right?!

Japanese – Zuma is the go-to for Japanese-inspired brunch; take Mum here and she’ll be very happy! Zuma’s Mother’s Day Baikingu Brunch starts at $838. There’ll even be a talented illustrator to capture a portrait of your mum that you or she can keep forever.

Indian – Mayfare restaurants are famous for their Indian meals. Try Gaylord or Gunpowder if your mum loves Indian food. As a bonus, diners will receive a Larry Jewelry cash voucher to be used on any purchase until 31 May 2020.

International buffet – The Market at Hotel Icon has unlimited international specialities, fresh cold seafood (including a sushi and sashimi bar), sizzling Asian favourites, and a host of heavenly desserts. You need to book online because they will be busy. Brunch here starts from $518 per adult, and $368 per child (ages 3 to 11 years).

Picture-perfect afternoon tea – We love the afternoon tea at Dear Lilly. It’s truly picture-perfect. Take your mum (and your IG account) here for Mother’s Day and you’ll have a ball. It’s $298 for two people, but note that you must book – this is a very popular experience! Book at this link.

Floral afternoon tea – If you’re after a later start, try an afternoon tea with a floral twist. This Mother’s Day, the Kerry Hotel has teamed up with The Mozz to host two sessions of floristry workshop for afternoon tea guests. For an additional $250 per flower bouquet, you can craft a beautiful flower bouquet as a gift for the superwoman in your life. The regular afternoon tea is $638 per set for two persons.

Southside – If you live southside and Mum doesn’t want to venture too far from home, try Limewood or Sip Song. Both are offering Mother’s Day meals, with a free-flow option at Limewood. Limewood’s Mother’s Day experience is priced from $450 per head and Sip Song from $350 per head.

Pamper her at home

All mums deserve to be pampered, and Lush has a great range of products to pamper your mum at home. This year, the store is offering a special Mother’s Day collection that’s available to purchase online. The Knock Out Reusable Bubble Bar looks like a winner to us!
