Fashion: 16 online shopping websites and lifestyle blogs to follow

9 March, 2017 by Emily McCabe 4 Min Read

https://expatliving.hk/fashion-16-online-shopping-websites-and-lifestyle-blogs-to-follow/

There are more online shopping websites than one can count these days linking you to your favorite brands, all at your fingertips and only a touch of a button away. I am a girl who finds it really hard to ignore the temptations, it being so accessible and all, and so I have made a list of my current personal favorite hot spots which I trawl on a daily basis, staying loyal to some of the more main stream websites, I though it also important to a few more unknown gems.

Opening Ceremony's founders were inspired by a trip to Hong Kong
Opening Ceremony’s founders were inspired by a trip to Hong Kong

Opening Ceremony
A New York based brand, which used to be a brick and mortar shop before becoming the successful online shopping website it is today. It’s a brand known for its collaborations aside from its own unconventional designs. Chloe Sevigny has designed a limited edition capsule range. Opening Ceremony is also featured on other websites as a brand.

Stylebop
This is a beautifully constructed website offering designer pieces for both men & women, it has a great beauty section and informative fashion and trend editorials. The extra large images are a plus for those who love to pin!

Shopbop
It’s a favourite. It has a great trend-report-like a fashion mag as an opening page and different ‘editors picks’ functions which I use frequently.  Whether you’re looking for sports wear, a new work blazer or formal out fit you’ll find it here and divvied up into their different boutiques for easy access.

Who What Wear
I had to put this one in here. It’s a fantastic hassle-free blog which keeps you up to date with up to the minute fashion, tips and advice. It also has a shopping facility. It really does it all.

Byrdie
Byrdie is Who What Wear’s sister website, dedicated to everything in the beauty sphere. All the latest on new beauty treatments, tips and tricks are here on their clean and easy to use website. Follow them on Facebook or Twitter for daily tips.

Athleta, sporty shopping, women sports wear, clothes for gym and office
Athleta for sporty shopping

Athleta
If you are looking for sports wear with a difference have a look at Athleta. They have stylish pieces designed for women travelling from the office to the gym and wanting to still look put together.

Goop
This blog has so much to offer. From recipes to fashion, travel and wellness, there are not enough hours in the day to go through it all. It has an online shop with many designers showcasing exclusives designed only for Goop. Make sure to subscribe.

Pinterest
Pinterest is a unique website that many have asked what the actual point of it is. It’s your own personal online scrap book, something to spring board ideas from and inspire you, whether it be cooking, or Fashion or homewares, it has a huge stream of images that are all linked back to an original website. It’s amazing how much is out there!

Etsy
Etsy is for those who are after something more hand crafted, and one of a kind. It’s a website that is host to hundreds of businesses, from people who have turned their hobbies into something more, and other more established brands. Sections include Homewares and Jewellery, Art and Fashion, and more. Basically, you will need a lot of time to check out Etsy.

Gilt
When it comes to a good sale, Gilt is the best. It provides a 60% discount off all retail prices. The sales run within a time limit, so you have to act fast. But with homewares brands like Missoni, and Fashion brands like Theyskins, Theory or Phillip Lim, it’s not hard.

Les Nouvelles
This boutique-like site offers a smaller more concise selection. With a real strip-shopping feel that shoppers will love.

Avenue 32
So chic, but with an edge, Avenue 32 has big mixture of high-end designer pieces with younger brands. A great website to visit if you’re in need of a really special outfit and every other website has more of the same. Easy to navigate and the products are beautifully shot.

Pixie Market
If it’s budget shopping you’re after, check out Pixie Market. They have a unique collection of fashion pieces at budget prices however don’t skimp on quality, worth a look!

Bonadrag
Out of most of the different online shopping websites listed here, this is the one spot that carries the pieces you just don’t really find elsewhere with an eclectic mixture of brands from indie, alternative to more established brands. Expect the unexpected.

Keep
As a Pinterest enthusiast, this website really appealed to me. Keep functions in keeping with Pinterest’s ‘pinning’ function, but instead here you ‘keep’ it and then you can shop it. Let the website do the rest.

In the mood for a sweet treat? These chewy salted caramel and chocolate cookies are delicious with a cuppa or warmed and crumbled over ice cream.

This recipe makes about 25 cookies.

Ingredients

5 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened (or as an alternative, substitute half of the butter with natural peanut butter)
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup plain flour
6 tablespoons cocoa or cacao
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon sea salt flakes
1 cup chocolate chips
1 Mars Bar, chopped

Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add the egg and vanilla, then beat well.
4. Combine flour, cocoa (or cacao), baking soda and half of the salt; gradually blend into the creamed mixture. 5.Stir in the chocolate chips and Mars Bar pieces.
6. Drop tablespoon-sized amounts of the mixture onto a lined cookie sheet.
7. Bake for 8 to 9 minutes. Tip: do not over-bake! The cookies should be soft, they’ll puff up while baking and flatten while cooling.
8. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet onto wire rack.
9. Sprinkle with remaining sea salt flakes.
Enjoy!
