Tried & Tested: Body lotions we love

1 March, 2022 by Expat Living 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.hk/best-body-lotions-creams-oils-and-moisturisers/

With the change in season comes air-conditioning and other enemies of soft, smooth skin. Hydrate and moisturise all over with these body creams, lotions and balms – they’re some of our favourites!

• Crabtree & Evelyn Citron & Coriander Body Lotion ($205)
• WULT Feathery LightBody Cream ($168)

I’m using two lotions at the moment. After showering in the morning, I love the energising zesty aroma of Crabtree & Evelyn’s Citron & Coriander Body Lotion. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and moisturised all day. At night, however, I opt for a more subtle and soothing fragrance with the WULT Feathery Light Body Cream. WULT is the sister brand of Skin Need, so you can rest assured there are no hidden nasties with this plant-based vegan range.

Cowshed AWAKE Bracing Body Lotion, $336

lookfantastic.com.hk

Having recently moved to Hong Kong, I noticed my skin became quite dry over the winter – and Cowshed’s AWAKE cream has really nourished my dry skin. It takes a bit of rubbing in but then it stays on for hours; it also smells really fresh and clean, and makes me feel like I’m on holiday. I’ve started using it every night as now the sun is out I’ve needed to moisturise for a different reason! It’s slightly pricy but you don’t need a huge amount, and it’s not too thick, which I think is crucial for the humid months ahead.

Crabtree & Evelyn Evelyn Rose Velvet Body Melt, $256.50

crabtree-evelyn.com.hk

I’m a huge fan of Crabtree & Evelyn’s signature Evelyn Rose scent, which is unlike any other rose fragrance I’ve tried. It’s pleasantly floral with refreshing notes of Italian lemon and vetiver. There’s a full range of home, body care and skincare products under this line, too, so you can smell lovely throughout. The Velvet Body Melt has a unique formula that feels rich and silky at first, but it does literally melt into the skin beautifully without leaving any tacky finish. This body lotion is super hydrating, and I find that my usually parched skin feels smooth even after a long day in the air-conditioned office. Now that this has become a regular in my daily routine, I don’t think I can live without it!

Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Body Lotion (Chamomile), $70

aveeno.com.hk

I really think Aveeno is brilliant. This body lotion is quite expensive, but I love that there’s a natural scent that doesn’t clash with perfumes. The lotion feels rich and moisturising, but it just soaks right into your skin. I have used it on my face too, when it felt dehydrated. The chamomile one is probably my favourite. It’s also my daughter’s favourite now.

The Body Shop Almond Milk Body Yogurt, $119

thebodyshop.com/en-hk

I don’t use body lotions or moisturisers frequently as they’re usually too heavy and sticky for my liking. But I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the almond milk body yogurt from  The Body Shop recently – I just loved it. It’s light, absorbs fast, smells good and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth almost immediately. It’ll definitely be my go-to moisturiser from now on!

Now Solutions Organic Jojoba Oil, $260

ogreen.hk/en

I’m enjoying using this organic jojoba oil as a natural moisturiser and on the ends of my hair to stop them drying out. I’m trying to use more natural oils and products as much as possible rather than body lotions. Jojoba is often used in beauty products and known to be a great skin and hair conditioner. A little goes a long way, too.
