Having organised shopping bazaars and events for more than 15 years, ShoppingHongKong is entering a new era, with new owners Pavleta Petrova and Bojana Pequignot. Pavleta, who has lived in Hong Kong for 12 years, is the entrepreneur behind Stylish Sisters, a company providing personal shopping and style coaching. Bojana is the founder of digital marketing consultancy Bo Consulting and a Hong Kong resident of seven years, and has more than a decade of experience in marketing and public relations.
The pair says that ShoppingHongKong will continue to provide a one-stop shop for busy people, with seasonal bazaars offering unique brands from around the world, but they do have plans for some new offerings!
How did you meet?
We met and connected quickly two years ago at an online educational summit where we were both getting some new knowledge about online marketing.
Why did you decide to go into business together?
After a few meetings, we realised that our skills and knowledge from past studies and work complemented each other and we often shared business ideas. As soon as the possibility to acquire ShoppingHongKong was presented to us, we saw it as the right opportunity for us.
A business with “shopping” in the name sounds pretty fun – what excites you most about this venture?
As young women who appreciate style, and unique fashion, accessories and lifestyle products, one of the most exciting parts of the business is to bring all these amazing products to our loyal shoppers at affordable prices and under one roof. We are often a platform for newly established businesses and our shoppers love buying something new and unseen. But around the fun action of shopping revolves one more really important part of the business: the social part of interacting with our vendors and shoppers and to work with many incredible, talented, hard-working people.
ShoppingHongKong is well established – do you have plans for any changes?
We do plan to have a more digital approach next year, and perhaps to have an online store rather than just physical events, as we are all testifying the rising trend in online shopping.
Why do you think shopping fairs are so popular in Hong Kong?
In a busy, bustling city like Hong Kong, where everyone seems to love a bit of retail therapy, shopping fairs offer a one-stop space where customers can find brands with unique collections, while listening to some quirky music, having a glass of wine and gathering with friends. It feels like having a break.
