Why your teen will love Singapore

4 April, 2019 by Expat Living 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.hk/why-your-teen-will-love-singapore/

Do you have bored teens moping around the house complaining they’ve run out of stuff to do? Wondering how to keep them entertained over the next school holidays? How about a trip to Singapore? There are some great out-of-the-norm activities in Singapore for teens. Here’s our roundup of ten of our favourites.

#1 Trampoline Park

Singapore’s massive indoor trampoline park, BOUNCE, has loads of fun stuff on offer. You can jump into big bags, challenge yourself at the Leap of Faith – where you stand on a raised platform then leap out to catch hold of the trapeze or grab bag – or try the X-Park, also known as the ninja warrior obstacle course, which combines elements of climbing, jumping and free-running, before zipping on the aerial runway to the finish line.

#2 Virtual Reality

VR has been a big hit recently, but as exciting as getting your hands on one of these games would be, owning a really good headset can be expensive. Thankfully, Singapore has got locations like Zero Latency and V-Room where you can go and be immersed in a virtual reality world.

#3 Go-karting

Everyone looks forward to driving their first car, so why not get a head start? Happy days: Singapore has several karting arenas, including the KF1 Karting Circuit and The Karting Arena, where you can race your heart out on fun circuits and feel the rush of an F1 driver.

#4 Indoor Laser Tag

For an adrenaline kick that’s loads of fun and great in any weather, head to Laser Quest at either HomeTeamNS Bukit Batok or Tampines, or to LaserOPS on Orchard. Both companies offer a safe, comfortable, painless and affordable indoor laser tag experience.

#5 Bubble Soccer

We tried this once at a birthday party, and we reckon it’s one of the most thrilling and exciting experiences on offer in Singapore. Participants are strapped inside large inflated bubble balls (with legs outside), and then you start running and bumping into each other, and playing games like Bubble Bump Soccer! Everyone was laughing, huffing and puffing at the end of our session – great fun.

#6 Paintball

This is a good sport for unleashing your inner child – think running around, hiding and shooting each other with paint to win – and great fun with friends. You can also put your accuracy skills to the test when you play at Red Dynasty Paintball Park.

#7 Escape Room

Imagine you’re trapped in a room with a group of people and everyone has to work together to crack codes and solve riddles in order to free yourselves – that’s how escape room games are played. Game plots range from horror to anime, so there’s something for everyone. Head to Xcape Singapore to try the huge selection of game plots – and remember to bring friends!

#8 Karaoke

Visit casually with friends and sing your hearts out at Teo Heng KTV Karaoke Studio, a chain with outlets around Singapore. It’s affordable for students and a very popular place for birthday parties or weekend hangouts. You can even bring your own food and (non-alcoholic) drinks!

#9 High Elements

Calling adrenaline junkies! If heights are your thing, check out Singapore’s first and only treetop obstacle, Forest Adventure, at Bedok Reservoir. Having just had a six-month revamp, Forest Adventure returns with four different heights and 63 crossings in three age-appropriate courses that are based on height restrictions – Kids, Junior and Grand. Alternatively, head over to Mega Adventure at Sentosa. It has a range of different thrill activities you can try, ranging from zip-lining and free-falling to a high ropes adventure course.

#10 Flowboarding

At Wavehouse Sentosa, you’ll get to try this hybrid board-sport that combines surfing, bodyboarding, snowboarding, skateboarding, wakeboarding and skimboarding. Perfect for Singapore’s humid weather – flowboarding requires excellent balancing skills and can be pretty hard to master at first. After you get the hang of it, though, it’s so much fun.
