What it’s like to live on Old Peak Road

13 September, 2017 by Expat Living 3 Min Read

https://expatliving.hk/what-its-like-to-live-on-old-peak-road/

There are many things to consider when looking for the right apartment for you and your family in Hong Kong. Space, proximity to schools and a sense of community are at the top of many people’s lists. What if we told you that you could find all of this, as well as sweeping views over the city, a private spa and fitness room and numerous on-site kids’ activities and facilities, all in your apartment complex? Here’s a snapshot of what life is like living at Queen’s Garden on Old Peak Road in Mid-Levels.

Apartments in Queen's Garden on Old Peak Road have sweeping views over Hong Kong

Well-equipped with a sense of space

Walk into any of the luxurious Old Peak Road apartments and the floor-to- ceiling windows will guarantee a jaw-dropping view over Hong Kong harbour and to Kowloon – even the bathtub has a view! There are 174 units across the property’s three towers, with apartments ranging from one to four bedrooms and from 2,050-square-feet to 3,790-square-feet in size. They’re all split level, with reverse-cycle air-conditioning, plus high ceilings to create an even bigger sense of space. Kitchens are equipped with fridge, dishwasher, microwave oven, oven, washer, dryer and water heater, and there’s a maid’s room with its own bathroom. While each apartment has a parking space, there’s also a regular resident’s shuttle bus to Central.

Recreational facilities

Queen’s Garden offers recreational facilities that are second to none – one of the key features that give this apartment complex an edge over so many others. The barbecue areas have stunning views and there is a heated swimming pool. The gym is considerably larger than you’ll find in most apartment complexes, with equipment that would put many a commercial gym to shame. There’s also an aerobics room, where hatha yoga classes are held exclusively for residents. Golf classes are conducted at the indoor golf simulator for all ages, and Taekwando and swimming lessons are also on offer. The complex’s spa facilities will ensure you feel like every day is a holiday – the his-and-her spa rooms boast large Jacuzzis, a wet and dry sauna, and heated recliners to relax and read.

A sense of community

With only two apartments per floor, there are zero concerns about privacy at Queen’s Garden, yet there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy the sense of a close-knit community in this Old Peak Road address. The building’s clubhouse area offers tea, coffee and reading material, and provides a spot to catch up with neighbours for a chat. Mixers are held to give new residents a chance to get to know each other, and the building management also organises regular social functions for residents, such as a Christmas party in the clubhouse, and food and wine tastings.

The view from the sky garden is second-to-none

While every apartment has a view, the building’s sky garden on the 23rd floor is also popular as a place to enjoy the vista over the city or fireworks in an open-air setting. In addition, a function space for hire allows residents to hold larger parties than they might otherwise do in their apartments – and it includes a home theatre room for movie screenings. There’s also a cigar divan in the clubhouse.

Catering for the kids

Queen’s Garden is fantastic for families, whatever the age of your children, with plenty of opportunities for them to make friends in the building. There’s a well-equipped playroom in the clubhouse area for younger kids, while the Old Peak Road, Mid-Levels location means close proximity to a number of international schools. In addition to the aforementioned recreational facilities, the management also arranges regular activities for the young residents of the complex, such as a Halloween haunted house experience and a visit from Santa Claus at Christmas time. There’s also a green lawn area where the kids can run around outside. Don’t be surprised if you barely see your little ones once you settle in!
