UPDATED: Festive feasting Christmas dinner guide

We have rounded up some of the best Christmas dinner venues, along with places to help you with catering at home over the holiday season in this handy guide. Whether you are heading out or entertaining at home, you are spoilt for choice in Hong Kong.

Baby, it’s cold outside

Have you been charged with organising the annual team dinner? Got family in town and need to take them out for Christmas dinner? Restaurants all over the place are offering some superb festive menus this holiday season.

Looking for a family-friendly option that’ll please the little diners as well? Jamie’s Italian is serving up a three different seasonal menus through December, with a focus on family favourites and festive treats. There’s a lunch set ($168/$198), the Festive Formal Set ($328), which is a little more grown-up, and the WOW Menu ($468 per person), which embodies Jamie Oliver’s love for table-sharing.

Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen will have a special Christmas menu on December 24 and 25 for those hankering for a British European feel for their festive dining. The three-course meal offers pork and pistachio pie or beetroot cured salmon, with a choice of duck, turkey or Dover sole for mains. Baked rice pudding or lemon and lime cheesecake round out the HK$588 menu.

The much-lauded Zuma has a special Baikingu Christmas Brunch Menu which it will serve on 24-25 December, with Zuma promising to give guests a special gift of white truffle shaved at the table by the chef. Other seasonal delicacies include teriyaki turkey, walnut and gingerbread pudding with spiced figs and whisky caramel and homemade mulled wine. The brunch package costs HK$590, with a champagne package at HK$690.

Check out Le Bistro Winebeast on 22, 23 and 24 December when Chef Johan and his culinary team will serve a special Christmas Eve five-course dinner menu ($688 per person) featuring classics from South West France. le-bistro

The JIA Group has an amazing range of options at its various restaurants, from traditional Cantonese festive menus at Duddell’s, and an Italian affair at 208 Duecento Otto, to a very British Christmas menu at Aberdeen Street Social and the perfect roasts packed with festive ingredients for sharing with family at Rhoda.

If seafood is more your thing, the festive brunch ($598 per person) at Seafood Room is a good option. With a selection of raw items, a salad buffet, carving station, seafood mains and dessert – plus free flow! – you’ll think all your Christmases have come at once.

Alto Bar & Grill is offering a Christmas menu bound to please any palate. Starters in the three-course set menu range from poached egg, seared scallop or squash soup, with mains including turkey, beef, cod or pasta. Cranberry walnut tart, apple crumble and pumpkin cheesecake are on the dessert list, with the set menu at HK$598. A set wine pairing is available at HK$788 per person.

Truffle-oxtail tortellini and bitter chocolate souffle are featured in the four-course Christmas Day lunch at Cafe Gray Deluxe at The Upper House for HK$900 per head. They are also offering a sumptuous Christmas Eve dinner with a choice of goose a la royale with braised red cabbage or Madeira-glazed veal cheeks with roasted and creamed sunchokes for the main course at HK$2100 a person.

Experience a rustic Italian celebration from 24-26 December at Gia Trattoria. They are offering a four-course Italian feast for HK$628 per person, which includes a stunning view over Victoria Harbour.

Frites is offering a European feel for Christmas


Meanwhile, if you are looking for a more European flavour for your Christmas celebrations, Belgian beerhouse Frites is offering a set menu for HK$495 featuring gueuze mussels, a choice of turkey or beef and brioche pudding. A two-hour free-flow package is an extra HK$250.

Both branches of Wooloomooloo Prime in Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui have a set menu for dinner on 24 and 25 December for HK$988, with dishes including smoked salmon and crab parcel, smoked duck breast & foie gras, traditional turkey or Australian beef tenderloin and pudding.

Celebrate Christmas with a view at Vista on the 100th floor at Sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck in the International Commerce Centre. They have an exclusive four-course set meal on 24-25 December for HK$648, which includes an entry ticket. Enjoy a traditional turkey meal with all the trimmings.

If you are a fan of American steakhouse Morton’s of Chicago, you will be pleased to know they are offering Christmas lunch for the first time. They are offering a lunch menu for HK$388 from 21-23 December and then on Christmas Day itself have a festive three-course menu for HK$488.

Brazilian steakhouse Braza is offering a Christmas brunch at HK$358 per person, with two hours of free flow for an extra HK$188. The brunch includes a starter table laden with fresh salads and traditional dishes, churrasco, roast turkey and a choice of five desserts.

Lily & Bloom are offering both brunch and Christmas dinner for the festive season. Brunches are on offer from 24-26 December for HK$650, while their five-course Christmas dinner runs from 23-25 December at HK$888 per head.

Foxglove has a White Christmas theme, with a three-course set menu of classic favourites on 24 and 25 December including turkey or beef and spiked eggnog or mulled wine. They will also have Christmas jingles at 10.30pm on 24 December and are showing two much-loved movies on 25 December. Early bird tickets are HK$380 before 17 December and HK$480 after plus service charge.

If you are after something a bit more casual, Mrs Pound is offering a HK$298 package on 24 December of two hours of free flow and their special Christmas sticky coffee ribs dish. On 25 December they will put on all-you-can-eat pancakes and a Bloody Mary station for HK$198.

Looking to have a happy Christmas in Happy Valley? Feather & Bone Happy Valley is offering a six-course set menu for HK$588 per person. Starters include fresh oysters and smoked salmon blinis. Main is turkey ballantine with all the trimmings and the meal concludes with a selection of Le Meunier cheeses and traditional Christmas pudding. For $300, you can add free flow Moët & Chandon champagne.

No need to tackle a turkey when you can get the experts to take care of it


Did someone say turkey?

Let’s be honest, tackling a 10-pound turkey is not for the faint-hearted novice chef, so why not leave it to the experts this holiday season? Eclipse Hospitality Group will deliver a fully cooked, oven-roasted, 10-to-12-pound USA turkey to your door. They also have a range of side dishes or a full catering package, with everything from salads to sweets thrown in.

While technically Blue Butcher and Meat Specialist is a dine-in venue, its famous Hunter Valley free-range turkeys are available for delivery through Deliveroo. Order a full ($1,880) or half turkey ($980), served with mashed potatoes, homemade pork stuffing, chorizo, brussels sprouts, gravy and cranberry sauce. All turkey orders come with sweet potato pie and cinnamon whipped cream, for a sweet ending to your festive meal. All turkeys must be ordered 48 hours in advance. |

Classified has taken all the hard work out of prepping for a festive dinner with its seasonal hampers. Some are filled with treats like mince pies, gingerbread men and tea, while others have the classic additions you need to make your dinner extra special, like gravy, seasonings, mixed nuts, wine and cheese. The hardest part will be choosing which one to take home. Prices start at $700 and hampers will be available for delivery through December.

Speaking of amazing hampers, the team at Tasmania Fresh Foods have imported some goodies from Down Under and wrapped them up beautifully for gift giving or just tucking into. Hampers are priced at $980 with next daydelivery. Orders can be placed by emailing, and if your order before 15 December you’ll get 15 percent off.

CRFT-PIT is offering a Christmas set at HK$2300 which will allow you to cater at home for 6-8 guests. The set is a southern Christmas feast which can be delivered chilled to reheat or completely ready-made. The set includes a hickory-smoked turkey, maple salmon, St Louis ribs and side dishes.
