Showcase: Take a tour of this beachside apartment in Repulse Bay, Hong Kong

If you told the average Joe that you lived on an island, he would instantly conjure up images of golden sands, blue skies and seas, room to breathe and time to think – not quite the picture of what many of us Hong Kong dwellers know as the reality of our daily island lives.

Liza Beighley is a Hong Kong expat who is very qualified to compare this island life with another. As a native of Guam, a sleepy and quiet Micronesian island she describes as “mini Hawaai”, Liza was brought up with the sound of ocean in her ears and sand between her toes.

Liza and her husband Jim and their two boys moved to Hong Kong (for the second time) from Guam in 2010 and thankfully she has been able to find a beachside property that reminds her of her life back home. Her apartment in Norman Foster’s iconic building The Lily in Repulse Bay has expansive views of the sand and the ocean and a light-filled airy feel.
