The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club Sunset Series recently wrapped up after 12 weeks of Friday night racing. The series featured one start for all competitors at 5.45pm each Friday, with handicaps applied and adjusted for each boat on a weekly basis. While the series has traditionally been regarded as something of a ‘drift-fest’, this year’s series enjoyed above-average conditions leading to some grumbles about handicaps for some classes being disadvantageous in the prevailing breeze. There were, however, no grumbles about the apres beers on the dock. The Steward Trophy for most firsts was awarded to Alessandro Schueeli and crew on Cacafuego and the Sunset Series Cup was awarded to Nelson Tsia and the crew on Diablo.
