Looking for a property to rent in Hong Kong? Stella Abraham, Head of Residential Leasing & Relocation Services National Director Jones Lang LaSalle Limited (JLL), shares her expertise on what is happening in the market in our regular updates.
“Welcome to the Year of the Rooster! Like the rooster, the residential leasing market remains active and the centre of attention. While most people continue to be affected by shrinking housing budgets, some landlords are hesitant to provide substantial rental discounts given the tight availability in the market. JLL has seen continued activity with clients who have monthly budgets from HK$50,000 up to anywhere as high as HK$250,000 per month.
One of the biggest questions we face from families moving to Hong Kong is about schooling – what options are available, and is it possible to live in close proximity to your chosen school? From 2017 to 2018, these questions should be a lot easier to answer as a number of international schools are opening in Kowloon and the New Territories, and they will provide parents with more choices when settling into the 852. This now means that we are seeing clients both currently living in and moving to Hong Kong that are prepared to live in non-traditional expatriate areas.”
