New leader takes the reins at Hong Kong university

There’s new leadership at SCAD Hong Kong, with the appointment of interior design luminary Professor Khoi Vo to the post of Vice President. Vo is no stranger to SCAD, with a long association with the Savannah College of Art and Design’s elite faculty in Georgia, which began when he joined the Interior Design department in 2009.

As chair of this department, he led SCAD to number one rankings for both the undergraduate and graduate programs by respected international industry body, DesignIntelligence. It named Vo among the 25 most admired educators in the fields of architecture, interior design and landscape architecture in 2017, in recognition of his educational engagement in the global design community and his leadership in interdisciplinary collaboration.

Vo moved to Hong Kong in May with his wife Kristen and son Caleb, and says he is excited about this new era in his career, as SCAD celebrates its 40th anniversary of preparing students for creative professions around the world.

“SCAD’s ability to generate life-changing experiences for its students and faculty continues to inspire me every day,” he says. “I’m humbled to be leading the very talented, passionate and dedicated team here in Hong Kong, as we continue to raise the bar on academic excellence, and nurture the creative talent of tomorrow.”

In his new role, Vo will oversee the daily operations of the campus, including academic services, student success, admissions, technology services and institutional effectiveness. He will also bring extensive international networks to the new role; the Master of Architecture graduate sits on the national board of the American Society of Interior Designers and is also active with the Council of Interior Design Accreditation – networks that will allow him to act as a conduit between SCAD and international creative communities.

About SCAD

The Savannah College of Art and Design is a private, non-profit university that offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees for students wanting to work in the art and design industries. It has campuses in the US, France and Hong Kong, and also offers e-learning. More than 20 of its bachelor’s and master’s programmes are fully accredited locally and in the US. The campus is in the SCAD-restored North Kowloon Magistracy Building at 292 Tai Po Road, Sham Shui Po.
