Good wine is one of life’s great pleasures. But it can be overwhelming knowing what to drink given the wide range of wines available in Hong Kong. The solution? A trip to the Kedington Annual Wine Fair.
Wine importer Kedington Wines holds the annual fair to showcase wines from producers around the world for one night only. The 2017 edition of this exclusive wine tasting event will feature 18 producers from eight leading wine producing countries, some of whom are making their only trip to Asia this year.
So, if you want to get tips on how to tell your cabernets from your syrahs and sample some fantastic new wines, then head to the Kedington Annual Wine Fair. As well as tasting top drops, you will meet the personalities linked to the featured labels, be able to take advantage of one-time offers and be in the running for some rare bottles lucky draw prizes.
Here are three of the featured producers you should not miss:
#1 Wirra Wirra – Australia
This much-loved Australian wine label was established in 1894 by an eccentric cricketer but fell into disrepair after his death in 1925. It was revived in 1969 and is now one of country’s most-respected label, as well as one of its quirkiest – vineyard staff pelt the lawn with watermelons to mark the end of harvest.
#2 Charles Heidsieck – France
Did you know the origin of ‘Champagne Charlie’ links back to Charles-Camille Heidsieck who earned the nickname while in the United States promoting his eponymous champagne? Charles Heidsieck has a reputation for quality and the brand’s Master of Wine Ned Goodwin will be at this year’s fair to share his love for this beautiful champagne.
#3 De Martino – Chile
The De Martino winery is now being run by the third and fourth generations of the De Martino family. The visionary approach includes resurrecting winemaking in traditional earthenware pots. Winemaker Marcelo Retamal was named among the Top 15 Winemakers’ Winemakers in 2015 Decanter Magazine.
Meanwhile, the other producers who will appear at the Kedington Annual Wine Fair include Woodstock, Ashton Hills, Soumah, Bleasdale and Plantagenet from Australia; and Chateau Les Valentines, Moillard and Bailly Lapierre from France. New Zealand will be represented by Schubert, Italy by Umberto Cesari, Spain by Figuero, Matsu and Proyecto Garnachas de Espana, along with Stellenrust from South Africa and Fritz Haag from Germany.
