Expat Living caught up with four families from the Malvern College Pre-School Hong Kong (MCPS) Island West campus to better understand their preschool experiences.
In August 2019, Malvern College Pre-School Hong Kong (MCPS) welcomed its first cohort of little learners into its new Island West campus. Those super-cute preschoolers may have been full of nerves, but the team was cool, calm and collected.
Under the guidance of Jacqueline McNalty, Head of Pre-Schools, the MCPS team has achieved a lot in two short years. The Island West campus marks the third Hong Kong campus for the Malvern group, and the school’s second preschool campus. The first has been open for some time out at Coronation Circle.
The fun of Forest-Beach School
Forest-Beach School has drastically improved the awareness of the natural world in my children. They have expanded their curiosity, discovering seemingly simple things that are mostly not accessible to Hong Kong kids – from creatures in their habitat to simple natural phenomena. Playing together outside where they learn to take risks has also made them more self-assured.

Reggio Emilia-inspired campus design
Malvern College Pre-School has a wonderfully cosy and safe environment for my son to learn and grow. The teaching and supporting staff have been fantastic in supporting us with his transition – their professionalism and kindness are very much respected and appreciated.

Bilingual curriculum
The pre-school’s bilingual approach doesn’t merely provide a solid foundation for the pupils’ language development but also facilitates their future multifaceted and life-wide learning under different cultural environments and circumstances.

Supportive journey to Malvern College
Our eldest son is currently in Prep 1 at Malvern College Hong Kong (MCHK). Prior to that he had attended Malvern Pre-School (MCPS) for both K1 and K2. He thoroughly enjoyed his time at MCPS and the nurturing environment the school created.

A word from Malvern College Hong Kong
When the new Prep 1 pupils join us from the Pre-School, they are ready, prepared, willing to work hard, confident and well behaved. All the foundations have been put into place. I cannot speak highly enough of all the work the team does in preparing the children for Malvern College Hong Kong.
