World Cultures Festival 2019: “Breath”
8 November - 9 November
“Breath” is a one-of-a-kind encounter with probably the strongest Nordic duo!
Tero Saarinen (Concept/Choreography/Dance)
A constant searcher for varied forms of expression, choreographer-dancer Saarinen reaches out to traditional Japanese dance and Butoh, classical ballet, and martial arts in his spirited contemporary creations. He has collaborated with the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT1), Israel’s Batsheva Dance Company, and Lyon Opéra Ballet, among others, producing more than 40 works to date.
Kimmo Pohjonen (Concept/Music)
Fearless and impressively energetic (even swimming in glaciers in winter), Pohjonen is a revolutionary master accordionist. Variously referred to as the Jimi Hendrix and Björk of the accordion, he muscularly metamorphoses its lilting image with his electrified, custom-made instrument into a raging, engaging new presence.
