Twisted & Tangled by Eric Niebuhr
2 July - 31 AugustFree
Presenting at Art Supermarket, Twisted & Tangled is a solo exhibition by Hong Kong-based American-Australian artist Eric Niebuhr. The exhibition showcases a selection of his latest works and the behind-the-scenes painted studies.
Drawing inspiration from everyday scenes across Hong Kong streets, Neibuhr uses acrylic with a combination of mediums to create puddled areas of paint, amorphous channels and flat shapes. These abstract qualities introduce viewers to a world of unpredictability and create a visual entanglement – twisted & tangled. His current developing series references the trolley pushcarts used for transporting goods and rubbish on the streets of Hong Kong. The improvised use of materials to bundle objects on the carts such as bungee cords, ribbons and ropes become the composition source for colour, lines and shapes in his paintings.
