TRANSCENDENCE Portrait Show
27 February @ 11:00 am - 31 March @ 9:00 pm
Presenting at Eaton HK’s lobby and Foodhall, Transcendence is a portrait exhibition of 11 transgender people, their unique and inspiring stories as well as their desires to be made visible as proud and authentic members of the trans community in Hong Kong.
Featuring the stories of Alice, Yanki, Ming, Hong, Janice, Liam, Sho, Zephyrus, Julian, Mimi and Pinky, Transcendence is a joint production of the Association of World Citizens Hong Kong and Photographer Candy Yeung. Working with a team of professional photographers, art directors, lighting designers, stylists and makeup artists, the 11 models transform themselves in front of the camera. This process provides them the space and sense of safety to present their most self-expressed and authentic side. As the first large scale transgender photography show in Hong Kong, the organisers endeavour to probe society’s preconceived and conventional concept of gender, creating a space for the transgender community and the wider Hong Kong public to enter into dialogue.
