Osamu Tezuka Anniversary Film Retrospective

9 December, 2017 - 28 January, 2018

Osamu Tezuka fans will enjoy a film retrospective

Osamu Tezuka, known as the Walt Disney of the East, is the Grand Master of Japanese manga and anime. Tezuka opened up new pathways for Japanese animation and created many successful fictional characters, including Astro Boy and Prince Sapphire, which were popular not only in Japan but also internationally.

Tezuka’s animations are full of fun. His signature clean and simple modelling, unique composition, well-written dialogues and the smooth action design, etc., all combine to make both his short and feature-length animations impressive. With the 90th anniversary of Tezuka’s birth, 2018 is the perfect time to look back on some of his classic works and pay tribute to this animation master.

Special screenings will be held at UA Cine Times (Times Square, Causeway Bay), UA Cine Moko (MOKO, Mong Kok), UA iSQUARE (iSQUARE, Tsim Sha Tsui) and UA MegaBox (MegaBox, Kowloon Bay). Extended talk and workshops will be conducted in Cantonese at Phoenix Lounge, UA iSQUARE.
