Hong Kong World Cultures Festival 2019 – “The Nordics”
18 October - 17 November
Since its inception in 2005, the biennial World Cultures Festival has travelled around the world to bring the magic of the arts from different regions to Hong Kong. Journeying through Latin America, the Mediterranean region, along the Silk Road, across Asia and Eastern Europe and into Africa, this year’s festival showcases five Nordic countries that are the epitome of cool!. The programme features a line-up of music, dance, drama, literature, circus arts and more, showcasing the diversified cultures and traditions of these countries and the region.
Festival highlights include the opening operatic performance of Ingmar Bergman’s signature film Autum Sonata by Finnish composer Sebastian Fagerland, Norwegian ballet production of Ibsen’s Ghosts, Swedish contemporary circus Limits and a weekend of sensational music at the Nordic and Hong Kong Band Sound Gala. There’ll also be an array of fringe activities including exhibitions, workshops, talks, meet-the-artist sessions, master classes, backstage tours and school tours.
