Hong Kong Art Week 2017

Hong Kong Art Week takes on the theme ‘Artropolis’ over a vibrant 12-day festival, which runs from 15–26 November. Now in its fifth year, the event celebrates Hong Kong’s artists, galleries and art community. The 2017 programme is full of events which will appeal to seasoned art aficionados, and newfound art audiences alike. With more than 50 Hong Kong Art Gallery Association (HKAGA) member galleries participating, ‘Artropolis’ has a broad and exciting city-wide programme, from symposiums to family art days, showcasing Hong Kong cultural life through exhibitions, performances, charity art walk, activities and talks.
Some of the highlights during Art Week include The Gallery Walk for Charity 2017 from 5pm–10pm on 21 November. This art and wine walk will see 30 galleries open late into the evening and a festival atmosphere on the streets between Central and Sai Ying Pun. Make your way from gallery to gallery enjoying art exhibitions, live music, wine tasting and HK Ballet performances. This is a ticketed event with tickets at ticketflap.com.
Other Hong Kong Art Week highlights include the free event, Art Day at South Island on 25 November from 12pm–7pm. This will see HKAGA Southside member galleries open their doors to the public. Visitors can enjoy video screenings at Vhils’s new Wong Chuk Hang studio, listen to a talk by artist Louise Soloway and catch musical performances in courtesy of HK Sinfonietta, among the highlights.
Hong Kong Art Week culminates with the popular Family Art Day on 26 November from 11am–5pm. This free event will feature a host of fun family activities to be enjoyed by kids of all ages. It will be held in Olympic Square, Hong Kong Park at 19 Cotton Tree Drive, Central.
