Film Stylo 2022

18 March @ 8:00 am - 1 May @ 5:00 pm

Hong Kong events - Film Stylo 2022

Students aged 12-15 based in Hong Kong are invited to participate in Film Stylo, a filmmaking and emotional wellness initiative for students to create personal films at home based on a shared theme. The theme for 2022 is “Silver Linings”.

Any student with interest in creative expression can submit a film based on the guidelines below. For students at participating schools, they can also sign up for a free workshop experience led by older students at their school*.

Submitted films will be considered for a screening in Summer 2022 (depending on the public health situation), and the Top 10 films will also be announced.

Filmmaking Guidelines

To promote filmmaking as a means for personal expression, films made as part of Film Stylo should be made according to certain guidelines, which can be followed by students with any or no prior filmmaking experience. Films will be shortlisted based on these guidelines.

  • 1-3 minutes in length
  • Voice-over based (subtitles instead of voice-overs is also accepted)
  • Made in response to this year’s theme Silver Linings
  • Rule 1: Your face should be shown in a reflection in one, and only one, shot (ex. pointing a camera at the mirror)
  • Rule 2: No screen recordings are allowed; and you can only show a digital screen in a maximum of one shot

Interested in participating

All students aged 12-15 from any school in Hong Kong are welcome to create and submit a film for Film Stylo by 1 May, 2022.
