Elephant Week 2019 & Gala Dinner
11 November - 15 November
Back for its sixth edition, Hong Kong Elephant Week is an annual schools education programme and fundraising initiative by The Elephant Foundation (TEF). Each year, a Maasai Warrior is invited to visit schools and generally raise awareness of the plight of elephants and rhinos. TEF is an anti-poaching and conservation charity based in Hong Kong with a particular interest in the conservation of African elephants and rhinos.
This year, Daniel Ole Sambu, a Maasai Warrior and senior member of the Big Life Foundation, will be speaking to schools about the impact of poaching, human wildlife conflict and the importance of community involvement in conservation. He will also speak about how Maasai people are changing their traditional ways to support conservation through sports. The Maasai Olympics will be coming to Hong Kong for the first time next year.
The week-long programme will lead up to a fundraising Maasai Dinner at the Island Shangri-La on 15 November. Enjoy a fun evening celebrating Maasai culture and help support vital conservation efforts. To book tickets RSVP Luke at LL@hkelephants.com.hk.
