Beyond One Kilo – a Ceramic Exhibition

14 April @ 1:30 pm - 29 April @ 6:00 pm

Beyond One Kilo - a Ceramic Exhibition

Sparked by an experimental assignment given to five emerging ceramic practitioners – Jonathan TSANG Yat Wing, Geoffrey PALMER, Kate SIU Man Kit, Sara HUNG Lok Man and Sharyn WORTMAN – in their first year of studies at Hong Kong Art School, Beyond One Kilo is their first group show and is a personal interpretation of the basic unit of measure. Highlights include Jonathan’s piece “A Litre of Tears” which explores the notion that emotions have weight, Geoffrey’s “Weighty Propositions” which plays with the notion that weight cannot be seen, Kate’s “He Makes Me Love Clay” which takes the form of a daily diary where she recorded the conversations she had with her Japanese Sensei during a week in December and translates their daily dialogue into objects, Sara’s “Gentle Breath” which is in relation to a verse in the Bible where man received the Holy Spirit through Jesus, and Sharyn’s “Tread Softly” which is all about the healing process and about remembering to slow down and allowing other people to help.
