Spring is all about renewal and rejuvenation, so why not schedule in some “me-time” and book a facial treatment? Glow is a one-stop-shop for all your hair and beauty needs in Hong Kong, and this includes literally dozens of different facials. While all these treatments tend to follow the tried-and-true facial sequence – cleanse, tone, serum, mask and moisturise – each one is aimed at changing or improving a particular aspect of your skin. (We all have different skincare needs, after all.)
So, you may be keen to address the issue of fine lines and wrinkles with some thoroughness; or you might just feel like your complexion’s a little lacklustre and in need of TLC. Whether you choose a high-tech therapy or a quick fix, once the salon’s skilled therapists have done their thing, we bet you’ll feel happy, relaxed and restored.
Here we look at some highlights from Glow’s facial offerings, across six different skincare and technology categories. We’ve recommended one treatment in each group, though it’s best to chat to the team to determine what best suits your needs.
Skeyndor has been made and developed in Spain for over 50 years, with a focus on clinically tested and proven products containing quality, ethically sourced ingredients. The fastest-growing skincare brand in Europe, Skeyndor regularly launches new products and improves its current lines, with the aim of delivering advanced skincare regimes for long-term results.
Try it: The Power C+ Facial (60 minutes, $980) uses a vital skin protector and antioxidant that’s 700 times more absorbable than pure vitamin C; it helps to eliminate uneven skin tone, smooth fine lines and brighten the complexion.
Environ facials and peels are a retinol-based regime that rely on pioneering electro-sonic technology (or, to use the technical terms, “low-frequency sonophoresis combined with pulsed iontophoresis”) in combination with the company’s professional skincare products. This results in restoring, reviving and rehabilitating the skin’s overall health and wellbeing, making a real, lasting difference to its appearance.
Try it: The Essential Youth Reset (60 minutes, $2,180) helps soften the appearance of fine lines, sun-damage and sagging skin with a peptide and vitamin-packed facial for a more youthful appearance.
CACI anti-ageing treatments, non-surgical lifts and facials involve the use of microcurrents to stimulate the superficial muscles under the skin, making them firmer and giving a lifting effect. Very popular in the UK, it’s an effective way of “taking a few years off” in a non-invasive fashion.
Try it: The CACI Non-Surgical Face Ultimate Facial (90 minutes; $1,380) is a gentle chemical peel, combining five peeling techniques with high acid concentrations in order to eliminate external skin layers.
#4 Blue Light Therapy
Ideal for teenagers, Blue Light Therapy is a non-invasive, non-medicinal solution for problem acne. Light in the blue wavelength penetrates the top layers of skin to weaken or kill acne-causing bacteria.
Try it: The Blue Light Acne Treatment Facial (60 minutes; $1,080) is a painless cleansing, hydrating and calming treatment designed for acne-prone skin, combined with blue light to target the acne bacteria living on the skin surface.
This advanced digital skin micro-needling treatment relies on “micro-trauma” to stimulate the skin to go into repair mode. This natural healing response leads to the production of collagen and hormones, allowing for skin rejuvenation. With minimal downtime required, the DemaPen4 is also used to treat superficial or minor wrinkles, acne, stretch marks, age marks, uneven skin tone and texture, and other conditions.
Try it: The Single Area Treatment (60 minutes, $1,980; with peel, $2,460) covers a single targeted area of your choosing – the face, back or shoulders, for instance, or the stomach or thigh. The Ultimate Treatment (90 minutes, $2,940; with peel, $3,800) also includes the face, neck, décolletage and hands.
This is a new, advanced cryotherapy innovation that provides a fast, effective and safe solution for the targeted removal of skin imperfections – skin tags, age spots and warts, for example. It’s quick and relatively painless, taking just a few minutes; so, you can be in and out of the salon in no time.
Try it: Since it’s so fast, a CryoPen treatment can be added to any other Glow service you book in for. To complement the range of facials at Glow, you can also visit the spa for beauty services such as waxing, brows, eye treatments, lashes and nails, along with full-body, lymphatic, and pre- and postnatal massages. The spa team all hold internationally recognised qualifications and are happy to make recommendations to address your concerns.
