Hospital Help: Why Women Choose Matilda

22 June, 2021 by Michaela Bisset 2 Min Read

https://expatliving.hk/antenatal-care-matilda-international-private-hospital-in-hong-kong/

If you’re a mum-to-be, you want to feel like you and your growing baby are in good hands from the get-go. We take a look at a new antenatal care service at Matilda International Hospital, a private hospital in Hong Kong, that’s designed to give peace of mind to pregnant women.

Where:

The new antenatal care service is available at the Outpatient Department of the hospital, or at the Matilda Medical Centre in Central. Matilda is well known for its maternity care in Hong Kong, and its wide range of options for pregnant women.

What:

The service commences at around week six to week eight of gestation, and includes 14 antenatal visits, starting from HK$1,980 per visit. These cover essential blood tests, Down syndrome screening, oral glucose tolerance and Group B strep tests, as well as the standard antenatal checkups and basic ultrasounds.

Matilda is the only private hospital in Hong Kong to offer this pre-determined pricing and pay-as-you-go system.

Why:

Antenatal checks are important for detecting any abnormalities and development disorders in mothers and babies. Also, since a personal touch is so important for giving couples guidance, advice and emotional support throughout their journey into parenthood, the Matilda team guides women starting from pregnancy, throughout the delivery and with support via home visits.

What else:

Mums-to-be don’t have to sign up for the antenatal care service in one go; you can also pay as you go, in case you want to have a part of your pregnancy managed in a government hospital, and part of it in private care.

The same designated physician will always attend to the same patient at Matilda. And you can also choose to use the same designated doctor for delivery at a pre-determined price; this means you can have the full support of the medical team you’re familiar with for the delivery of your baby.

How:

For bookings or enquiries, contact the Patient Service Team at 6016 1680 or email mums@matilda.org. Note: Schedules and fees only apply for designated obstetricians; appointments or emergency consultations beyond the schedule are charged additionally. Optional items can be chosen at extra cost.

About the hospital:

Matilda is a not-for-profit private hospital providing personalised patient care with international standards with key areas of expertise on health screening, women’s health, orthopaedics/spinal, ear nose and throat, and general surgery.

Who was Matilda?

On Christmas Day in 1858, Granville Sharpe and Matilda Lincolne arrived in Hong Kong; originally from England, they’d recently married in India. Over the next 30 years, they made HK their home; Granville worked in banking and real estate, while Matilda dedicated herself to helping widows and orphans in the community. When Matilda died of pneumonia at age 64, a heartbroken Granville put the remains of his estate in trust for the construction of a hospital to be built in her memory for the benefit, care and happiness of the patients.

Don’t miss:

Book one of the new antenatal care packages and deliver at Matilda to enjoy great benefits, including fixed-priced hospital and doctor packages, free child-care courses for domestic helpers and special gifts!
